Hörmann – Responsibility for generations
As a family business, Hörmann applies responsibility – both today and for future generations. Sustainable business practices have therefore been an integral component of our corporate strategy for many years. We place particular emphasis on the circular economy: we develop products with the aim of using resources efficiently, keeping materials in the economic cycle for as long as possible, and consistently avoiding waste.
Our sustainability strategy is based on the three-pronged approach of calculation, reduction and offsetting: we systematically track our emissions, avoid and reduce them wherever possible, and offset any remaining emissions through certified climate protection projects. This understanding of sustainability shapes our daily activities and is firmly embedded in our corporate values.
Our strategy: calculating, reducing and offsetting CO₂ emissions
By conducting a yearly calculation of our carbon footprint, we know where and how we can reduce emissions. And although we regard reduction measures as the most sustainable approach, the technology to avoid all emissions does not yet exist. That is why we offset the remaining emissions by promoting certified climate protection projects in co-operation with ClimatePartner. Calculation
Every year, we calculate the carbon footprint of Hörmann locations, including the products manufactured there (Corporate Carbon Footprint). This forms the basis for our sustainability strategy. It enables us to determine the sources of our emissions and identify areas where we could be saving more.
Reduction
We reduce our emissions wherever possible. This means we are taking various steps, big and small, to reduce our carbon footprint. We think that the reduction or direct avoidance of emissions is the most sustainable way.
Our goals:
- Scope 1 & 2: 10 % reduction in CO₂ emissions
- Scope 3: A 30 % reduction in CO₂ emissions per tonne of goods and services purchased by 2030

Compensation
We offset our remaining CO2 emissions with our products for residential construction and products for constuction projects by supporting certified climate protection projects in collaboration with ClimatePartner. In this way, we compensate 100.000 tonnes of CO₂ every year.
