Sustainability, quality, and innovation – multiple award winner
As a family-owned company with clear values, Hörmann has been committed to quality, responsibility, and sustainable practices for decades. Our awards and nominations reflect how we bring ecological, economic, and social responsibility to life, thereby providing important impulses for the industry. We report on this because we want to inspire others to join us in working towards a future worth living – and because we are simply delighted to see what we have already achieved together.
Awards and nominations
Awards from the German Federal Association Baustoff-Fachhandel
Hörmann has already received several awards from the renowned trade magazine BaustoffMarkt: In 2025, the company received the “Product of the Year” award in the category “CO2 reduction/low-emission and energy-saving production” for its storage systems made from recycled materials. In 2021, Hörmann had already received the BaustoffMarkt Award for reliable partnership and special cooperation with the building materials trade.
The award is considered the highest honor in the building materials industry and has been presented every two years since 1982 by the industry magazine BaustoffMarkt. A representative jury consisting of over 1,000 companies and executives from the German building materials trade selects the winner via a cross-sectional survey. The award is considered a symbol of trust, quality, and sustainable cooperation between industry and trade.
Bauvista Sustainability Award
In 2025, Hörmann received the Bauvista Sustainability Award, which was presented for the first time. The company impressed with its holistic concept for CO₂-neutral products and innovative recycling processes. Sales Manager Heiko Heinlein accepted the award and emphasized: “Everyone who is committed to sustainability is a winner.”
The Bauvista Sustainability Award recognizes companies for their special commitment to the environment, resource conservation, and sustainable production. It is presented by the Bauvista Group, one of the leading cooperatives in the building materials trade, which brings together over 700 locations of specialist dealers, DIY stores, and garden centers.
PRO.ELEMENT-Award
At the 2024 Forum Bauelemente , Hörmann KG Verkaufsgesellschaft was the first company to receive the PRO.ELEMENT Award. The jury justified its decision as follows:
“Hörmann KG Verkaufsgesellschaft has done outstanding work in developing CO2-neutral products. This is a milestone in the development of building products. Furthermore, with its innovative recycling of sections, Hörmann is not only making a decisive contribution to sustainability, but also establishing completely new and efficient processes for conserving resources and establishing a sustainable circular economy.”
The PRO.ELEMENT Award is presented at the E/D/E Forum Bauelemente and honors manufacturers who contribute to the optimization of processes, productivity, and sustainability with innovative ideas and projects. The award is presented by the E/D/E (Einkaufsbüro Deutscher Eisenhändler) Pro.Element expert group in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute and is considered an important catalyst for the further development of the building components industry. The focus is on solutions that are not only economically but also ecologically forward-looking.
Finalist in the 17th German Sustainability Award
With its “Garage Sectional Door Recycling of sections” project, Hörmann reached the final of the 17th German Sustainability Award in the Products/Resources category in 2024. When recycling sections, Hörmann extracts raw materials from disused doors, which are then reused in the production of new doors. This contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions and establishing a sustainable circular economy. Hörmann was also among the nominees for the German Sustainability Award last year.
The German Sustainability Award is considered one of the most prestigious awards for ecological and responsible business practices in Europe. It honors companies that make a measurable contribution to climate protection, resource conservation, and the circular economy with innovative concepts and products. The award is presented in several categories and is accompanied by an independent jury from business, science, and society.
Architects' Darling Award: Bronze in the “Cradle-to-Cradle” category
Since 2018, Hörmann has been one of the leading winners of the prestigious Architects' Darling Awards, which annually honor the best brands and products in the construction industry. Hörmann has won numerous gold, silver, and bronze awards in various categories in recent years – including bronze in the sustainability category “Cradle-to-Cradle” in 2023.
The Architects' Darling Awards have been presented annually by Heinze GmbH since 2011 and are considered one of the most prestigious awards in the construction industry – often referred to as the “Oscars of the construction industry.” . The award ceremony takes place as part of the Celler Werktag and is based on a comprehensive survey of architects and planners as well as a jury of experts. Awards are given to outstanding brands and products in various categories, from doors and gates to digital solutions and sustainability.
CSR Audience Award OWL
In 2016, Hörmann won the CSR Audience Award OWL (Corporate Social Responsibility) in the “Larger Companies” category. The company received the award for the diversity of its sustainability commitments: from the long-term project “We think green,” which includes measures such as switching to green electricity and reducing CO₂ emissions, to the Hörmann Academy with its extensive range of training courses, to its commitment to helping refugees.
The CSR Award OWL honors companies in East Westphalia-Lippe that are particularly committed to sustainability, social responsibility, and the common good. It is awarded every two years by the CSR Competence Center OWL of GILDE Wirtschaftsförderung Detmold and the Initiative for Employment OWL.
