First supplier for CO₂-neutral products: Thank you, dormakaba!
Hörmann has been sourcing CO₂-neutral products from dormakaba Germany since 2023. A milestone in our sustainable supply chain and a partnership that should send a signal.
Not all components in our products are manufactured in-house. Some, such as overhead door closers, are sourced from long-standing partners - including dormakaba. In 2023, our companies agreed on a special partnership: dormakaba has been supplying products with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) from dormakaba Germany in a CO2-neutral manner ever since. Michael Hensel, Managing Director of dormakaba Deutschland GmbH (left in the picture), and Martin J. Hörmann, personally liable partner of the Hörmann Group, also sealed their agreement in person - with a handshake (picture 1). Two years later, the partnership was extended: Lea Rammelmann (Head of Product Sustainability at dormakaba) and Manuel Künstle (Lead Key Account Management) were delighted to celebrate this together with Sarah Osterholt (Sustainability Officer at Hörmann) during a visit to the Hörmann Forum (picture 2)
By investing in certified climate protection projects, dormakaba offsets the CO2 emissions that are calculated to remain after the implementation of reduction measures. The entire product life cycle is taken into account. For Hörmann, this means a noticeable reduction in Scope 3 emissions, which are difficult to influence - i.e. those emissions that arise in our company through purchased products.
This partnership is exemplary for us. This is why Hörmann is in close contact with numerous suppliers in order to work together on reducing emissions. Open dialog about specific measures is just as important as individual partners taking the lead. dormakaba was our first supplier to make its emissions transparent and neutral - a strong signal.
