Sustainable design: swing doors made from recycled material

The manufacture of our swing doors produces waste material – for example, from window cut-outs or edge milling. This waste consists of polyethylene (PE) and accounts for up to 13% of the original panel. In order to actively implement the principle of circular economy, we specifically return this material to our production process.

Depending on the size of the scraps, we pursue two approaches:

• Direct reuse: We reuse about 60% of the cut-outs immediately, for example for spacer or backing panels.
• Recycling: We collect around 13% of the scraps that cannot be directly reused in mesh boxes and hand them over to our PE supplier. Special feature: We even collect the smallest plastic particles – material that used to go directly into the residual waste is now recycled. Our partner processes it into new recycled sheets, which are used to create our unique colours ‘Konfetti-Bunt’ and ‘Schwarz-Bunt’.

This process turns production waste into valuable raw materials for new products. The result is not only particularly sustainable swing doors, but also truly unique items – with colour variations that differ depending on the composition of the recycled material.
