Hörmann – Responsibility for generations
As a family business, Hörmann applies responsibility – both today and for future generations. Sustainable business practices have therefore been an integral component of our corporate strategy for many years. We place particular emphasis on the circular economy: we develop products with the aim of using resources efficiently, keeping materials in the economic cycle for as long as possible, and consistently avoiding waste.
Our sustainability approach is based on three principles: calculation, reduction and supporting climate action projects. We systematically record our emissions, avoid and reduce them wherever possible, and also support certified climate action projects.
Our strategy: calculating, reducing and and support climate action projects
By conducting a yearly calculation of our carbon footprint, we know where and how we can reduce emissions. And although we regard reduction measures as the most sustainable approach, the technology to avoid all emissions does not yet exist. This is why we make financial contributions to certified climate action projects in cooperation with ClimatePartner.
Calculation
Every year, we calculate the carbon footprint of Hörmann locations, including the products manufactured there (Corporate Carbon Footprint). This forms the basis for our sustainability strategy. It enables us to determine the sources of our emissions and identify areas where we could be saving more.
Reduction
We reduce our emissions wherever possible. This means we are taking various steps, big and small, to reduce our carbon footprint. We think that the reduction or direct avoidance of emissions is the most sustainable way.
Our goals:
- Scope 1 & 2: 10 % reduction in CO₂ emissions
- Scope 3: A 30 % reduction in CO₂ emissions per tonne of goods and services purchased by 2030

Funding climate action projects
However, there will always be emissions that we are currently unable to avoid or reduce. We take responsibility for these emissions by financially supporting internationally certified climate action projects from the ClimatePartner portfolio, equivalent to the calculated emissions of our products for residential construction and products for constuction projects.
