As a family business, we are very conscious of our responsibility to future generations, which is why we’ve been committed to sustainability for many years. Our sustainability strategy is based on the triad of calculation, reduction and compensation. Our aim is to steadily reduce our CO2 emissions. We supply CO2-neutral products.

Calculation
Every year, we calculate the carbon footprint of Hörmann locations, including the products manufactured there (Corporate Carbon Footprint). This forms the basis for our sustainability strategy. It enables us to determine the sources of our emissions and identify areas where we could be saving more.

Reduction
We reduce our emissions wherever possible. This means we are taking various steps, big and small, to reduce our carbon footprint. We think that the reduction or direct avoidance of emissions is the most sustainable way.

Compensation
We offset our remaining CO2 emissions through climate protection projects that are certified, for example, under the Gold Standard. This enables us to offer CO2-neutral products.

As a family business, we are very conscious of our responsibility to future generations and offer our products for residential construction CO2-neutral as standard at all European sales companies. Our products for construction projects throughout Europe are optionally available as CO2-neutral versions upon customer request. In this way, customers have the option to offset remaining emissions and make a contribution to climate protection when purchasing our products. The Hörmann sustainability strategy aims to reduce and avoid emissions. We cover 100% of our electrical power needs at all European production locations with purchased green electricity. We also apply many other measures to reduce our consumption and save more than 75.000 tonnes of CO2 each year. We work with ClimatePartner to offset the remaining emissions by supporting certified climate protection projects.

By calculating our carbon footprint every year, we know where and how we can reduce our emissions. And although we believe that reduction strategies are the most sustainable way to achieve CO2 neutrality, the technology required to avoid all kinds of emissions simply does not exist yet. For that reason, we work with ClimatePartner to offset the remaining emissions by supporting certified climate protection projects.
